Four for Four is a serial piece. Its twelve-note series is divided into three tetrachords. Each tetrachord is tonally organized so as to gravitate into its last note. The relationships between the atonal-serial language on the one hand and the tonal implication that is built into the tetrachords on the other, are the building blocks of the piece.
