Trachtenberg Lazar

Dr. Lazar Trachtenberg attended the University of Chicago, where he graduated with a Ph.D. After attending the University, he received his Artist Diploma and B. Mus. from the Academy of Music in Jerusalem. He has several areas of expertise given his years of exposure to various platforms of music. His specialties include composition (contemporary and traditional), harmony, counterpoint, orchestration, theory, and solfege. Some of the mentors that inspired him the most were his teachers from the University of Chicago, Ralph Shapey and Shulamit Ran, and his instructor from the Academy of Music, Mark Kopytman.

In 1994 he joined the faculty of the Music Institute of Chicago.
