Born in Lvov, USSR, 1946. Immigrated to Israel in 1958 and grew up in Kibbutz Negba. After completing his military service he studied composition with Prof. A.Ehrlich at the Rubin Academy of Music Tel-Aviv where he graduated in 1975. In 1995 he received the Prime Ministers’ grant for composition - a sabbatical year during which he composed the “Sugihara” - fantasia for Shakuhachi (Japanese Bamboo recorder), eastern percussion instruments and orchestra, thus creating a musical “monument” to the memory of a great Japanese gentile Chiune Sugihara and his wife Yukiko, who saved 6000 Jews in Kowno, Lithuania, 1940. He also published two volumes of his arrangements of 18 well known Israeli songs for strings, to be later recorded by the “Golden Strings” quartet and available on disc.
