In accordance with the feeling of the text and the period, the composer has used musical devices accepted at that time. The musical idiom throughout is modal. The Chain of Proverbs&nbsp;may be performed by a choir of any type or size. The number of recorders (or flutes) is determined by the volume of sound produced by the choir.
