I am ever amazed by the vast emotional scope of these verses: from the simple love of Nature, through the playful, innocent, childlike love of boy and girl, up to the heights of passionate, tragic, sexual love.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"line-height:150%; direction:ltr; unicode-bidi:embed; text-align: left;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">For the present cycle I chose six groups of verses, all of them monologues expressing the female side of Love. After the first three movements, rather playful than passionate, comes the first climax in the fourth movement, with its outspoken passionate sexuality. The second climax comes in the last movement with the words <\/span><b><i><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">\u2026<\/span><b><i><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">for love<\/span><\/i><\/b><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\"> <\/span><b><i><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">is strong as death, jealousy is cruel as the grave\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">. The music here is a reminder of the first climax. Immediately follows the <\/span><i><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">catharsis <\/span><\/i><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">in the last verse, with the playful words <\/span><b><i><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">\"Make haste, my beloved, be thou like a roe\u2026upon mountains of spices.\"<\/span><\/i><\/b><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\"> <\/span><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p style=\"line-height:150%; direction:ltr; unicode-bidi:embed; text-align: left;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">In my setting, I tried to make the best out of the sonorities and the rhythms of the Hebrew text.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"line-height:150%; direction:ltr; unicode-bidi:embed; text-align: left;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p style=\"line-height:150%; direction:ltr; unicode-bidi:embed; text-align: left;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%\">Yehezkel Braun<\/span><\/p>"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
