Max Stern

Max Stern – composer, performer, conductor, musicologist, music critic, and educator – is a pioneer figure in Israel’s musical life. He has created a rich genre of biblical compositions blending East and West with contemporary idioms and genres, internationally recognized for eloquence and warmth, touching the past and breaking into the future – released on nineteen CDs. Dr. Stern is also the author of two groundbreaking volumes on the relationship of music to religious faith and sacred text, Bible & Music and Psalms & Music (KTAV); as well as a philosophical book about the theory of music, The Speech of the Angels (KTAV). Professor Stern is emeritus professor of music at Ariel University.
