Emanuel Vahl

Emanuel Vahl was born in Odessa, Ukraine and studied in the School of Stolyarsky and at the Moscow Conservatory. Vahl imigrated to Israel in 1990. He taught in the “Hasadna” Conservatory in Jerusalem and in the dance studio of Jerusalem.

Vahl has composed 130 pieces including three symphonies, a Jewish suite for strings and other orchestral works; solo and chamber works (including 33 sonatas for different ensembles, a string quartet, recorder trio, saxophone quartet, a suite for brass quintet and more); Vocal music (Including pieces for children choir) songs and more. In recent years his pieces were performed in 30 concerts in halls such as the Hebrew Union College, “Hasadna” Conservatory, the Felicja Blumenthal music centre in Tel Aviv (with the composer Sarah Feigin), with the participation of many performers such as Allen Sternfeld, Amos and Gitit Boazson, Michael Clinghopper, Cheroot Israeli, Alex Balaosov, Vladimir Silva, Mina , Dashevsky, Hadasa Ben-Chaim, Asia Arie, Evgeny Czerniak, the Jerusalem Saxophone ensemble lead by Geresh Geller and many others. Many of his works were broadcasted by “Kohl Hamusika”.

The suite for oboe and piano was published by the Israel Brass Woowind Publications and many of his other works were published by the Israeli music centre and Israel music Institute.

Vahl was the winner of the 2013 Prime Minister award for composers.
