Erel Paz

Erel Paz

Born in Israel, 1974. Graduated the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem with B.Mus. in composition. Studied with Prof. Sergio Natra, Prof. Mark Kopytman and mainly with Dr. Ari Ben-Shabetai. To date Paz has authored over a dozen published works, which have been performed in Israel, U.S.A, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, England and Denmark. Performances include participation in the ACL Asian Contemporary Music Festivals 1998 & 2002, the 3rd Tel Aviv Biennale Festival for Contemporary music, MATA 2003 festival in New York and many radio broadcasts. His works have been preformed by the Israel Contemporary String Quartet, the Israel Contemporary Players, Kaprizma ensemble, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra (Denmark), Relache Ensemble (Philadelphia). These works have earned Paz several awards, including first prize and audience prize at the first Seoul International Competition for composers for his piece “In the Neighborhood”, and first prize at the Liebersohn Composition Competition 2000, held by the Israeli Composers League, for his orchestral piece “Water”. Paz received scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem, and the Abraham & Felicia Klon Foundation. Paz is an active member at the ICL (Israel Composers League) and in ACUM (Authors, Composers & Publishers Association).
