Alex Wasserman

Alex Wasserman was born in Brazil in 1963. His works have been performed in Israel, USA and Europe in concerts held by venues such as the Aspen Music Festival, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, the Israel Composers’ League, Musica Nova, the Tel Aviv Chamber Music Society series and the Tel Aviv International Biennale of Contemporary Music 2000 and 2002. His music has been performed by performers such as Rivka Golani, Marc Johnson of Vermeer String Quartet, Aviv String Quartet, AIMS Music Festival Barcelona, the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva, Filharmonia Opolska, ConTempo Festivalis, Voice of Music in the Upper Galilee and others.

Wasserman was the music director of the Tel Aviv Chamber Music Society and the Ramat Gan Symphony Orchestra. He studied composition and conducting at the Rubin Academy of Music with Prof. Abel Ehrlich and cello with Zvi Harel. He later studied cello with Peter Willy (Beaux Art Trio) and conducting with Michael Chary at the Mannes College of Music in New York. He received his doctorate from the Juilliard School of Music. He was awarded the Israel Music Institute award, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival fellowship, the Aspen Music Festival Scholarship, the Albert Szirmai Scholarship, and the Henry Mancini Fellowship.
