Gideon Efrati

Gideon Efrati is a Multidisciplinary musician: composer, arranger, conductor, pianist

and an active Singer. He Studied musicology, conducting, composition, and artistic singing

at the Rubin Academy of music in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv. Went on to advanced studies

of conducting with Helmut Rilling, Oratorial singing with Aldo Baldin, and Lieder singing

with Hans Hutter. He has performed solo parts as a tenor in Oratorios, Masses, cantatas

and modern music with leading orchestras and chamber groups. He composes for the theater. Efrati composes and arrange for ensembles abroad, there he also conducts workshops about Jewish and Israeli music. His output of his long – lasting involvement in preserving and arranging varied folklore music of diverse cultures, is expressed in a solo recital and album titled: “Songs of the soul “. A unique solo program titled: “Women in a Net – Gideon efrati sings David Grossman”, “Paradise for Rice” and “Knitted Love” with poems of Roni Somek, “Tapestry of Darkness and light” with poems of Lea Goldberg, and many other programs consists of poems by Nathan Alterman, Nathan Zach, Nurit Zarchi and others, produced new compositions and numerous arrangements. Efrati sees great importance and a true sense of duty in fostering educational and artistic creativity in the peripheral parts of the country where he founded vocal groups. Among them: Ranot Vocal Ensemble, Ramat Negev Singers, children’s choirs and more. There he initiated and collaborated with high quality local artists.
