Jonathan David

Guitarist and composer Jonathan David was born in Aseret in 1996. He writes music for dance, for animation and sound installations. “Do You Hear?”, music for dancer and electronics, premiered in 2021 at the Between Heaven and Earth Festival, at later performed at the Stockholm Fringe Festival, Tranas at the Fringe Festival, Bazak Festival and Alive Project of the HaMiffal. His piece E(tti)tude awarded first prize at the Sixth Israel National Composition Competition (2023) and performed by Meitar Ensemble. Courage for three recorders and live electronics was written for Noga Rubanenko and performed in Krakow, Poland.

Jonathan awarded first prize at the Sixth Israel National Composition Competition (2023) and is a scholar of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation for composition in 2022-2023. He also received the Ran Baron scholarship in 2021.

Jonathan studied guitar with Yosi Levy, piano with Daria Monastyrski, and composition with Prof. Boaz Ben-Moshe at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. In his gap year Jonathan had volunteered as a youth consultant in Mevo’ot Yam boarding school and later served in the army in the Combat Engineering unit Yahalom.
