About the creation

Three Preludes for piano consists of three pieces, each with a character of its own. The first is virtuoso-like, with a recapitulation enriched by bi-tonal counterpoint; the second is of a quiet, pastoral nature, in Rondo-Passacaglia form; and the third, Allegro Buffo, is playful and lively. The Preludes were first performed in Israel in 1958 by Israela Margalit-Maazel.
