About the creation
Impromptu no. 2 (1987) was commissioned as one of three set-pieces for the second stage of the International Arthur Rubinstein Piano Competition. The piece is organized in classical manner (exposition, development, reprise, coda) while it keeps a three-layer texture, perpetual motion and syncopations that eliminate any kind of feeling a metrical rhythm.
