About the creation

Four piano preludes was composed in 1959. It is constructed on a 12 tone row which appears at the beginning of the first prelude and later reappears in several permutations. Apart from the second prelude with its more sparkling character, the atmosphere generally is calm and intimate. The work was first performed in Tel Aviv in 1960 by Gila Amitai and was later given many additional performances both in Israel and abroad (Switzerland, Holland, Brazil and Belgium).
