About the creation

Capriccio for Piano (1946) is written in the myxolydian mode with modulations to other modes. It is in rondo-sonata form but the interrelationship between the subjects is different from that in traditional classical form. The Capriccio was first performed in Israel in 1946 by Alisa Schmuckler-Hess. In its second version – for symphonic orchestra – the capriccio was given its first performance in 1948 by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Bernadino Molinari.
