About the creation

"In this work there is a continuous process of descent, symbolized and realized by the change of the saxophones from soprano to alto, to tenor and finally to baritone. Episodes that grow from the process and even contradict it, lead inevitably back to it. A thing and its opposite live in piece in a harmony which is based on a non-decoded logic. The work is built somehow (in ways which are sometimes difficult to explain objectively) on a motif taken from his first guitar solo work "Will it work…?" Abel composed it and dedicated to me in 1985 and it was the point of departure of our close relation which lasted until his death in October 2003. This motif appears complete as a quotation (even if at a great rhythmical augmentation) at the end of the work, and I think it explains itself clearly, isn't it?" Ruben Seroussi
