About the creation
“Memoirs”, for large Symphony Orchestra, is a series of six separate movements, each depicting memorable moments and times in my life, translated into musical terms. There are moments of childlike innocence, playful, nostalgic, pensive, sad, and happy moments, all part and parcel of the experiences and changes I have undergone throughout the years. “Memoirs” portrays my life musically as a child growing up in Canada to my adult life living in Israel, until the present day. There is no doubt that I have been influenced as a composer and as a human being by the many wonderful composers preceding me, by my family and friends, and all the fine musicians and colleagues I have had the opportunity to have known. I am especially grateful to my good friend Gabor Hollerung, music director and principal conductor of the Budafok-Dohnanyi Symphony orchestra whose belief in me and encouragement throughout the years have been the catalyst for many orchestral compositions including “Memoirs”. This work is dedicated to Maestro Hollerung in deep admiration and gratitude. The world premier will take place in Budapest, Hungary on May 28, 2016 with the Budafok-Dohnanyi Symphony orchestra and guest conductor Roberto Paternostro.
