About the creation

Kilme, meaning “word” (as “truth”/’word of honor”), was composed as a reaction and under the influence of a press interview which dealt with the absurd and tragic events caused by political conflicts and the violence involved in them. The focal point was the tragic death of a Druse Israeli policeman Salim Barakath, who, in civil disguise, killed a Palestinian warrior/terrorist, saving thus a big number of lives in the nearby restaurant which the killing action was addressed to. His brother G’amal discovered around 10 years later that Salim wasn’t assassinated by the Palestinian during the struggle between them, as the official version stated, but by an Israeli policemen or a civilian present in the event, mistook by his Arab physical appearance as the terrorist himself.                   The struggle for revealing –and admitting- the truth, and the definition by G’amal during the interview that “lie is temporary and truth is forever”, quoted from him and told by the woman journalist Netta Ahituv, were the inspirational point of departure of the work.                    Live playing, recorded excerpts of it -manipulated and not- emitted simultaneously as a kind of second hand version in terms of authenticity and the voices of G’amal, the brother of the killed policeman and Netta, the journalist, create a counterpoint of layers appealing to parallel different layers in the auditor’s perception.
