Ron Katzman
Ron Katzman was born in Israel on February 11, 2000.
His first public premier, played by leading Israeli musicians, tool place in 2016. Since then, his works have been performed in dozens of concerts in Israel and Europe, by ensembles such as: Meitar Ensemble, Israel Contemporary Players, the Mivos String Quartet (USA), Recherche Ensemble (Germany), and others.
In 2021, his work was premiered by the ensemble Recherche in Freiburg, Germany. In 2023, his work was performed twice by an ensemble in Switzerland. That same year, ensemble Meitar commissioned a work for flute and cello from him, which was premiered publicly by the ensemble. In 2024, Israel Contemporary Players commissioned the work through the colorful husk for large ensemble. The world-premier took place at the opening concert of the ensemble’s 34th season. That same year, two more works were commissioned from him by ensembles in Switzerland.
In 2018, he won the Israel Conservatory of Music’s composition competition. In 2021, he won the first prize in the symphonic composition category at the International Composition Competition in Kazakhstan. Over the years, he has won many scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and excellency scholarships from Tel Aviv University. He has participated in the world’s leading music festivals and taken lessons from the world’s best composers: Carola Bauckholt, Franck Bedrossian, Stefan Prins, Bernhard Lang, Chaya Czernowin, and others. In 2025, he was invited to the Composition Studio of the prestigious Darmstadt Music Festival as a composer and writer for a project of the festival’s archive.
In 2023, he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in composition from the Buchmann-Mehta Academy of Music. He studied with Dr. Yair Klartag and Prof. Ruben Seroussi. In 2024, he began his master’s studies in composition at the Hochschule für Musik Basel (Switzerland) with Prof. Caspar Johannes Walter.
