Ido Akov
Ido Akov (b. 1993) pianist, composer, accordionist, received his B.Mus in piano performance from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, studying with Ron Regev and Allan Sternfeld.
Ido is active as a performer and composer of contemporary music. as a pianist Ido took part in the Meitar Ensemble’s Tedarim project, and plays regularly with the Israel Contemporary Players.
As a composer Ido’s works have been performed by Israeli ensembles such as Musica Nova, ensemble Modalius, Meitar ensemble, the Israel Contemporary Players, the Great Gehenna Choir, the Ashkelon Andalusian orchestra, and the Kiryat Ono conservatory concert band.
Ido has participated in master classes with renowned composers such as Phillippe Leroux and Fabian Panisello,
as well as in the Darmstadt summer course of 2018. Ido has also received grants and scholarship for his writing from organizations such as the Rabinowitz Foundation, and Mifal haPais.
Ido is also a singer in the Great Gehenna Choir- an experimental group which acts as a musical co-operative, with all music performed written by members of the choir. Ido was co-artistic director of the original production Tikkun Hatzot by the choir, performed in the Israel Festival in 2019.
Ido released his first album of original piano works- “The triangle becomes a line”, on January 13th, 2020.
