Lotti Amit-Kalev
Lotti Amit-Kalev is a graduate of the Tel Aviv Rubin Academy of Music (1959). She performed as a classical pianist and with her own compositions on the Israeli Radio and IDF Radio stations. She has been a teacher of piano, theory and harmony more than 50 years and is also a composer and arranger. During her military service she worked in the IDF radio station as a music editor and was responsible for the station’s record library. Lotti Amit has written music for piano and various instruments such as clarinet, violin, cello, harp etc. Her compositions include music for four-hands, duets, two trios, quartet, Divertimento for two clarinets and piano, Divertimento for two pianos, Rhapsody for harp, etc. During the 80′-90′ Lotti Amit published 14 piano booklets, including arrangements for piano of Israeli songs and a piano methods booklet. In 1992 she founded, together with the pianist Herut Israeli, “Duo Ron Ami”, in whose program there were more than 25 arranged Israeli songs and some of Lotti Amit’s original pieces, all of them for four hands. This program was recorded and uploaded to YouTube. In 2013 another booklet was published by the Israeli Music Institute, including 18 songs of the late Israeli poet and composer Naomi Shemer, arranged by Lotti Amit.
