Na’ama Tamir Kaplan

Born in Israel in 1984. Na’ama began her piano studies at the age of 8, alongside saxophone and cembalo studies. Completed her B. Mus degree in composition with Prof. Vladimir Scolnic and Prof. Menachem Wiesenberg, and her M. Mus degree with Prof. Menachem Wiesenberg and Prof. Yinam Leef, in The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. After studying at the Academy, she studied composition with Prof. Oded Zehavi. 

Na’ama writes music for orchestras, chamber and vocal ensembles, as well as soundtracks for animation movies and dance music. Her works have been performed in festivals and venues around the world, such as the Hamburger Kammermusikfest International (2018) and the International Women’s Day Festival in Riga (2015). In Israel, her work was featured in significant festivals, such as the Israel Festival and The Voice of Music Festival. Na’ama is a recipient of the Rosenblum Prize for the Performing Arts (2020), the Grand Prize winner of the 2015 American Harp Society in Dallas Composer Competition, 1st Prize winner of the Klang der Welt competition (2013) and the AICF scholarships for 2007-2008. 

Since 2018 Na’ama participates in The Same Word – an international, intercultural and interreligious project. On February 11th, 2023 the project’s collaborative piece was premiered in Hamburg at the Elbphilharmonie and on the following day at St. Georg church. Na’ama’s works are published by the Israel Music Institute, and on December At the end of December 2021, her piece Encore

to Radek, written specially for the renowned horn player Radek Baborák, was published by the International Horn Society (IHS).
