Ofer Pelz

Ofer Pelz is a multifaceted artist with a focus on music composition and improvisation. Currently teaching at the Conservatoire de Montréal, he integrates Feldenkrais and Focusing techniques into his pedagogy and creative path, courtesy of his diverse educational background spanning Jerusalem, Paris, and Montreal.

He co-founded Whim, a free jazz/experimental trio, and Tesse, a versatile collective creation group. Among his key projects are Traductions, a multidisciplinary act featuring a percussionist on amplified canvas, Gamification, a game pieces project for free instrumentations and computer, and Concerti, a 45-minute music-film he both produced and co-directed with ensemble Tesse.

His music appears in several albums, like the portrait Trinité, performed by Meitar Ensemble, or pre-fall and Trees with Whim Ensemble. His compositions also feature in other projects, such as David Greilsammer‘s Labyrinth album or Quasar Quartet’s Disque Bleu. His creative journey has earned him awards like ACUM and Ernst Von Siemens, supplemented by various important recognitions from Canada, France, Israel, and Germany.

Frequently showcased in prestigious festivals like IRCAM-ManiFeste, La Biennale di Venezia, MATA Festival, and Cervantino, his compositions are performed by ensembles such as Cairn Ensemble, Ardeo String Quartet, The Israel Contemporary Players, Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, Architek Percussion, Geneva Camerata, and Neue Vocalsolisten. Ofer has also collaborated with a diverse range of artists, filmmakers, and choreographers.
