
Rafi Kadishzon
Rafi Kadishson was born in Tel Aviv and began studying piano at the age of four. At 8 he went to study piano with Ilona Vincze and harmony and counterpoint with Yitzhak Edel. During his studies at the Thelma Yellin High School, he won prizes for excellence in music every year until he graduated. In the army he served as music arranger for Galei Tzahal, where he also composed music for plays. From then on, he wrote music for hundreds of shows, films, and dance performances. In 1978 and 1989 he won prizes for film music and in 1993 he won the ACUM Prize for theater music. In 2008 he received the Prime Minister’s Prize for composers. Kadishson studied at the Academy of Music in Tel Aviv and at the Guildhall School of Music in London. He also studied with Noam Sheriff, Sergiu Natra, Zvi Keren, Mendi Rodan, and Rina Waldman. In addition, he was involved in conducting, playing, and teaching.
He is thof the composing department at the cross-disciplinary composition division program at the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. He is also a faculty member at Hed College and the Rimon School.
His compositions include: Fantasy for violin and piano, Concerto for Peter and Orchestra (for saxophonist Peter Wertheimer), the orchestral suite Yefe Nof, and many short compositions for piano, for guitar, and various chamber ensembles.
