Tal Buks

Tal Buks is a pianist and composer who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, where she studied under Dr. Yair Klartag and Josef Bardanashvili.

Tal began her composition studies at the Music Department of Reut High School for the Arts, where she was mentored by Daniel Akiva, Dr. Ziv Cojocaru, and Dr. Michael Shenhav. As a composition student, her monodrama the Yellow Wallpaper for soprano and ensemble, based on the story by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman, was performed by the Israeli Contemporary Players and soprano Chen Wine at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music. In 2018, she participated in a workshop for young composers led by Dr. Hana Ajiashvili, during which her work was performed by the Mivos Quartet. The following year, in 2019, she attended the Young CEME course with the Meitar Ensemble. Her arrangement of a song by Naomi Shemer was performed at the Voice of Music in the Upper Galilee Festival in 2021. Her composition Dispositions for piano trio was commissioned by the Voice of Music in the Upper Galilee Festival in collaboration and the Israel Music Institute and was performed by the Alexander Trio.
