About the creation

The aim of this album, composed in 1954, is both educational and artistic viz., to provide students at varying stages of proficiency as well as violinists, with material based on oriental melodies and designed for group-performance (and partially for the concert-stage as well). The album is divided into three sections: 1. Easy Duets - for the beginner accompanied by his teacher. The series of notes on which the pupil's part is based appears at the beginning of each duet whereas no limitations are imposed on the teacher's part. 2. Progressive Duets and Trios for advanced pupils - a section mainly composed of pieces for three violins. Certain pieces such as Nos. 1, 2 and others, can be performed by a solo 1st with a group of violins accompanying or possibly by two soloists (No. 5) accompanied by an orchestra of violins. 3. Virtuoso Duets - for advanced violin pupils (conservatoire - graduate level) or for violinists. Many of the duets in this album were first performed by the Israeli violinists Alice and Lorand Fenyves.
