About the creation
In June 1948 company C of the 51st battalion of Giv'ati regiment stood opposite to Sudanese unit which occupied the police station of Iraq-Suidan. It was there, at Suafir, near Kibbutz Negba, that three stanzas of Haim Gouri's poem "Prayer" were put to music. The new 1996 version is linked to the poem and the original music.
