About the creation

Grotesque for piano, was awarded the Israeli Music Institute's Prize of the Eliezer Peri Young Composers Competition 1982, held in cooperation with the Israel composers' League. The work was performed for the first time by Dafna Eshel in a broadcast concert at the final stage of the competition, which took place in Tel Aviv on 21 January 1982. In 2004, Grotesque got included in Carta's world record as the shortest piece in the history of piano music that won a governmental prize.
