About the creation

Music for three recorders was written in 1969 for the composer's pupils at the Music Teachers' College. While considering the natural and technical limitations of the recorder, was the composer's aim to give expression in every piece to a different musical aspect of this instrument and to its special qualities - to its serenity and sweet sound, as well as to rhythmical precision. The pieces entitled "Spring Morning" and "Excursion" prominently feature considerable changes in tempi. "Game in the Breeze" and "Evening Comes" necessitate extremely precise rhythmic execution. Both "Canto" and "Evening Comes" call for soft, sweet sound. Each piece has its own separate formal structure.
