About the creation

On the Nature of a Child is a piece I wrote for Recorder and piano after my son was born and during his first months of life. The new and unfamiliar territory leads me to observe and identify the different moods and experiences of a child in the most primal and natural stages. Although "cliché" like, it really inspired me to write a piece with changing moods, but such that are not as obvious as their "adult" meaning: after all, the child not only experience a state of joy, he experience it for the first time or times, so that he is not only experiencing, he is actually shaping his definition of the experience of joy or anything else for that matter. The piece has three movements or moods. However, the music keep's its curios and playful quality in each section, regardless of the specific emotional content, or at least I hope so…
