About the creation

Partita for violin and piano: in this work, composed in 1951 and based on oriental motifs, the possibilities inherent in both violin and piano are fully exploited in the search for oriental sonorities. There are four movements: I - Introduction; II rondo-form' III - antiphonal recitative; and IV - gigute-like, with a middle section as trio. The work was given its first performance in 1966 by Lorend Fenives and Ilona Vincze. A version of the Partita also exists for flute and piano.
