About the creation

The quintet was written in 1975. It has a rather special structure: of the five episodes of which is consists the first corresponds in character to the fourth and the second to the fifth. All four are in motion, in contrast to the third episode which constitutes the static centre, a period of silence. The melodic material is common to all the episodes and derives from the opening chord. The accentuation of several specific intervals (the perfect fifth), the minor third and the major second) which appear in various placed in this work, as well as the relation of the triton (Db – G) which is particularly noticeable in the third episode, are also connected to the opening chord, this time to its construction.
