About the creation

This symphony has many features in common with the world of classical music: it is written in three movements: fast - slow - fast. It opens in E minor and ends in E major. All movements integrate classical forms such as fugue, variations and sonata. The work employs exhaustively the principle of development and elaboration of symphonic musical themes. The work's musical style has almost no traces of contemporary musical currents. It also does not refer to common practice of expressing Israeli in local art music. Despite this, the search for an independent musical style may turn in itself into a new expression of the spirit of the time and place. The work is dedicated to the agreement between Israelis and Palestinians in September 1993.
