About the creation

The Chain of Proverbs, written in 1962, is based on a collection of sayings from the book of allegorical legends, "The Book of Delight" by Joseph Ibn Zabra, a Hebrew poet of the 13th century Spain. In accordance with the feeling of the text and the period, the composer has used musical devices accepted at that time. The musical idiom throughout is modal. The Chain of Proverbs may be performed by a choir of any type or size. The number of recorders (or flutes) is determined by the volume of sound produced by the choir. The contents and musical structure of this composition indicate that it is intended for young audience although adults too should find it of interest.  Listen to the piece at the National Library of Israel website
