About the creation

The Trio for flute, violin and piano consists of two movements of contrasting character. The first movement, Allegretto, develops around a thematic core - the polyphonic texture spreads and flows in musical phrases which in turn become a dialogue between the flute and the violin.

The second movement is a rondo. Its pronounced rhythmic character is expressed by all three instruments and is accentuated by knocking on the frame of the piano. A hint of humor pervades the entire movement.

The Trio was written in 1977 and was first performed that same year in Ashkelon, Israel, by Uri Shoham - flute; David Chen - violin and Hanoch Greenfield - piano.
