About the creation

"Affetuoso" for two flutes was written in 1996 in a modal-chromatic style in which all twelve notes of the scale are fully exploited. The principal motive of the work is derived from the traditional Psalm readings of Babylonian jewry: D, E flat, F, G flat, F, G flat, F. it is sometimes shortened to D, F, G flat, F. during the course of the composition this motive undergoes transformations whith the addition of the melismatic decoration and with the moving of the tonal centre. Technically, the work is in free linear heterophony and the composer does not confine himself to the conventional usages of harmony and counterpoint.
