About the creation

Hassidic Tunes was commissioned by the Israel Music Institute for the Eliezer Peri Educational Series and was written in 1975.

The work is based on two songs: "And thou shalt spread" (Genesis 28, 14) and "Again ther shall be heard" (Jeremiah 34, 10). The recording of the songs were made by Andre Hajdu and transcribed by Haim Alexander and is part of the collection at the sound archives of the National Library of Israel.
