About the creation

Mimos I for piano four hands was composed in 1966. The three sections of the work, airy arabesques. The middle movement is slower, gentler and more introspective than the two fasts outer movements. Separated from one another by short pauses only, the three sections together form a structure.

The composer wrote two additional versions of Mimos I: for flute, clarinet and violin; and for flute, clarinet (or viola) and piano.

In performance the works calls for the highest degree of precision as regards rhythm and tempi.
